Romeo Two One was was a fortified watchtower on the summit of Faughill Mountain which monitored the strategic Dublin- Belfast road and rail corridors either side of it. The introduction of this monochramtic palette is to focus the viewer purely on the circular element of the piece and to highlight the constant surveillance by the British Army. Although only two oil colours used, I concentrated a lot on grey washes to bring the colour block of shape and line to the forefront.
Each piece is hand painted in oils on Hahnemuhle oil paper (unless otherwise stated) and signed on the back by the artist. I have included an interior wall design pic and although is not to scale (slightly larger than the original) it will give you an idea!
